layers of us

“Layers of Us” is Burcu Tas’ first artistic project, born from a desire to explore the personas and behaviors we observe in others and within ourselves.

The project examines the layers that shape our experiences and interactions, inviting a deeper understanding of both the beautiful and challenging aspects of life.

Through various art forms, including visual representations, Burcu reflects on the patterns and characters encountered in everyday life.

Inspired by Mexico’s Day of the Dead, Burcu draws parallels between the vibrant, symbolic alebrijes and the layers that make up our identity.

Just as the costumes and figures in Día de Muertos celebrate life and memory, the project reflects on the importance of accepting all parts of ourselves.

Each layer holds meaning, and true growth begins when we embrace every aspect of our being.
